Exercising decreases the need for medication

Up until recently it has been considered that exercising is very beneficial when it comes to prevention of various diseases, but that the individuals who have already suffered from serious health problems such as stroke or heart attack should rest and keep their physical strain at a minimum. Results coming from the research institute at a sports school in Germany seem to suggest something completely different.

The lead researcher at the Koeln research institute is reporting that everybody who suffered from various conditions can profit by doing physical exercise. But it is only effective when it comes to prevention and recovering, for individuals who are already suffering from disease in their developed stages, a consultation with a specialist is required. Those who are recovering from serious conditions by doing exercises have decreased dosages of their medication, and also they have gained more confidence in themselves.

There is a theory that physical activity decreases the levels of certain hormones like estrogen and insulin. It's believed that these hormones have influence on the growth of certain tumors. They seem to be like food for the tumors. Those who have had cancer of the large intestine, breast or prostate and who have conducted exercises had decreased chances for the tumor to reappear.

Another study from Germany showed that individuals who had minor cardiovascular problems or problems with circulation and who exercised showed better results in recovery than those who relied on the usual methods of treatment like stents and angioplasty. The physical exercises can increase the levels of the HDL cholesterol, this cholesterol has been known to have a protective effect on the cardiovascular system. Those who were exercising had lower blood pressure.

All of these effects that a simple exercise, like a walk in the park, a morning run, a bike ride or a few visits to the gym each week, all the effects mentioned before can be gained if these simple recreational activities are done. Even in case you are recovering from a serious illness, exercise can save you a lot of money that you would normally spend on expensive medications. Of course you can't start exercising immediately after you leave the hospital after a complex surgery, consult with your physician first and ask about a time at which it would be safe for you to start doing some physical activity, and you don't have to climb a mountain, a walk each day is more than enough for achieving these beneficial effects of an exercise.
